Sony’s Blu-ray burner

Posted on the October 10th, 2007 under Hardware by Ryman

Finally, Sony has released their 4x-speed Blu-ray recorder for the PC. Sony has been advocating their Blu-ray disk to the public, it is the direct competitor of HD-DVD in terms of the next generation optical storage media. With its 4x speed, it can write 50 GB in 45 minutes. The BWU-200S model connects via via SATA cable and can also burn HD and standard DVDs. Initial cost for this hardware is $600 in the U.S.

I am also a fan of Blu-ray disks, but recent reports says that there are some Blu-rays with problems during playback. I also wonder which next generation optical disk format will come out on top: Blu-ray or HD-DVD.
