Google’s stats for “interesting and disturbing” keywords

Posted on the October 19th, 2007 under Websites by Ryman

Keywords as we all know, are mainly used in search fields, usually in search engines. With the proper keyword, or combinations of keywords forming a phrase, one can find “information” based on those keyword(s). Google, apparently keeps a “statistical data” on “where” this keywords are mostly entered on their search box.

A post by Phil Butler at Profy.com reveals “interesting and disturbing” stats gathered by Google from unsuspecting users browsing around the world. Countries listed beside the keywords are among the top searchers for the terms.

Hitler – Germany, Mexico (?) and Austria (until now they are still looking for him?)

Nazi – Chile, Australia and the USA

Gay – Chile, Mexico and Columbia (this one is definitely disturbing)

Jihad – Morocco, Indonesia and Pakistan (are they recruiting or planning to join?)

Terrorism – Pakistan, Philippines and Australia (OMG)

Hangover – Ireland, United Kingdom and of course the USA

Burrito – USA, Argentina and Canada

Iraq – USA, Australia and Canada (they are making sure if Iraq is still on the map)

Taliban – Pakistan, Australia and Canada

Tom Cruise – Canada, USA and Australia

Britney Spears – Mexico, Venezuela and Canada

Love – Phillipines, Australia and USA (Ok, so we Filipinos are still looking for love)

Viagra – Italy, United Kingdom and Germany

Marijuana – Canada, USA and Australia

Kate Moss – Ireland, United Kingdom and Sweden

End notes: About the image above I wasn’t supposed to put that one up, but since the “caption” relates to this post’s topic I just had to place it here. Also it was the very first image at Google when I searched using the term “google logo” and viewed the image results for that key phrase.

Note to self: I “gotta” stop using too much quotation marks in a single post.
