Challenging online races in Drift City/Skid Rush
For a long time gamer like me, I’ve played many different types of games. But the most consistent type I always like is racing games or games involving cars. It’s no surprise that two of my most favorite games are Need For Speed and Grand Theft Auto. When NFS: Carbon was released online racing game was well established. Although back when NFS Underground was still new, you can already compete online. When you play a racing game, it gets boring when you can already beat your computer opponent multiple times. The fun begins when you test your driving skill against human opponents. That’s where the rush sets in. Here is where Drift City comes in.
Drift City (Skid Rush in Korea), is a Korean-developed game published in America 1 August 2007 by NHN. This game combines the features of an RPG with the features of a racing game. This game was in open beta as of 5 September, 2007.
The game takes place in the near future during a worldwide oil shortage. A mysterious material dubbed Mittron is discovered on an island in the North Pacific. The island was named after the material, and the Organization for Mittron Development (OMD) is set up to manage the island and its resources. This resource quickly became the preferred fuel for all methods of transportation as Mittron-fueled cars ran much longer, cleaner, and faster than traditional gas-powered cars.
Players earn experience points and the in-game currency of Mito for completing missions and deliveries, as well as for bounties when hunting HUVs.
Players can choose from a variety of vehicles in different classes. They can also purchase upgrade parts for their vehicle for increased performance, though many parts require the player to have reached a certain level before they can be equipped. Performance parts can be further enhanced for increased stats. [wiki]
This is one of the games I will definitely try out this new year. I’m looking at the vids and screenshots and it’s already giving me goosebumps (the term that got stuck in my mind after watching Initial D from 1st stage to 4th stage – including battle stage & extra stage – straight within 3 days).
