Globe’s new browsing rate for only P5 every 15 minutes

Posted on the April 9th, 2008 under Mobile, News by Ryman

Globe recently introduced their new mobile Internet service rate. That is 5 php for every 15 minutes on internet usage via your internet enabled phone.

Text STATUS to 1111 to check what is your current charging rate.
Text TIME to switch your internet rate to P5/15 minutes.
Text KB to switch to the old P0.15/kilobyte rate.

With the first and only 3G/HSDPA network in the country and a wide GPRS and EDGE network, Globe allows you to stay connected wherever there’s a Globe signal at up to 1.4Mbps with peaks of up to 1.8 Mbps. All you need is a browsing-capable handset, a Globe Prepaid or Postpaid SIM and you can already connect using the signal and speed available to you.

Time Browsing Rate is open to Globe Prepaid, Postpaid Consumer Accounts, SME and Corporate accounts. Not applicable to subscribers on Data Plans (i.e. Visibility). Time Browsing rate effective upon receipt of text confirmation. Succeeding connections will be charged P5 for 15 minutes. If disconnected within the 15 minutes, reconnection will be considered a new session charged at P5. No refund will be made if disconnected before the 15mins are up. Applicable to browsing within the Philippines only.

I tried this earlier today while I was waiting at a very long line in Makati. After switching to TIME rate, I opened up my phone’s online service. The connection is good and fast even though I’m only using 3G for surfing. The page load is quick and responsive. Most of all, it delivers its promise to charge you only 5 pesos per 15 minutes of surfing.
